Island Tropix was taken over by Mike and Victoria Lueken on April 2^nd, 1998. At the time of purchase, the salon only had five tanning beds.  A couple of months after they had purchased the business, they realized that they could build the salon into something even better.  In July 1998, they purchased a larger property that was located at 725 West 6^th Street in Jasper, Indiana.  The property was an old filling station and was a complete mess.  They worked on the store from August to December and had the grand opening on December 12, 1998. Only a few months later they decided to expand a little bit more. In August 1999, they purchased property at 206 Northwood Avenue in Jasper, Indiana.  They worked on this building from September to February.  Half of the building was remolded into a tanning and beauty salon, and the other half was rented out to a bridal shop. The second store opened on February 14^th, 2000.  In 2003, the bridal shop moved out and NuShApe fitness for women opened.  In August 2003, they purchased one more property at 2105 Pine Drive in Ferdinand, Indiana. This store was the biggest and most challenging projects that they had taken on.  All the work that has been put into the renovation of the three stores was done by Mike, Victoria, and with the help of their family and friends. After several months of work, the third location was ready to open on February 5^th, 2005. Island Tropix has come a long way since the beginning. They offer a variety of tanning beds that will help you achieve the best tan possible.
